Carbs aren’t all bad!
“Total carbohydrate intake shows no association with the incidence of cardiovascular disease endpoints, type 2 diabetes mellitus, glycaemia or colo-rectal cancer.
In children and adolescents, limited evidence indicates that there is no association between total carbohydrate intake and body mass index or body fatness” SACN Report on Carbohydrates and Health.
The important point? Just don’t eat more than you need… Free sugars shouldn’t exceed 5% of your total dietary energy, and your energy intake shouldn’t exceed your Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) for Energy. i.e. The most important this is not consuming consume more calories than you burn and eating a well balanced diet.
